Sometimes You Just Have to Jump

Recently, I’ve been struggling a bit. Learning that I have coronary artery disease, hit me harder than expected. When you’ve spent years trying to live well and take care of your health, news like that can feel like a betrayal from your own body.

It forced me to pause and think about a lot of things. About health. About time. About how I want to live.

And one idea kept coming back to me:

What prevents us from going after the life we want? If you’re waiting for the right time to make a change, chase a dream, follow your passion-you may be waiting a long time.

The PERFECT time rarely shows up.

That’s exactly what I realized when I started Well•ish. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have a perfect plan. I didn’t know everything I needed to know.

But I felt pulled to start—so I jumped.

Over the last year, the journey has been anything but smooth. Plans have changed. Things have been built, torn down, and rebuilt again. There have been moments of doubt, frustration, and growth.

And I’m still figuring things out.

But here’s what I’ve learned: starting is the hardest part.

It’s natural to want to wait for the fear to disappear before you begin something new—a business, a lifestyle change, a dream you’ve been carrying for years.

But fear rarely disappears. You simply learn to move forward with it.

I’m 52 years old. And while I believe there’s a lot of life ahead, I also know I’m in the second half of this journey. I want to live it intentionally. I want to finish it well.

That means when something calls to me—an opportunity, an experience, a change—I don’t want fear to be the reason I say no.

It might fail.

But at least I’ll know I tried.

Well•ish challenge:

Think about something you’ve been waiting to do. Something that scares you just enough that you haven’t started.

Instead of waiting until you feel ready…just begin.

Start small. Take one step.

It may be scary. You may feel unready. But, sometimes the only way forward is to jump.

Stay Well•ish.
